1.Peach Blush: This season, ditch the predictable bronze hues in favour of something softer and sweeter: peach cheeks. The perfect first-day-of-spring shade, it sits neatly between the pink of the '80s and the '90s brown, and flatters every skin tone. Wear it with very little else or to lighten up a sexy metallic eye. We love Benefit's Georgia Face Luminizing Powder ($43) . This delectable peach powder warms your complexion and leaves your skin looking smooth and soft.

2. Dewy Foundation: You can get skin that looks lit from within by ensuring you drink your quota of water and getting every last one of those 40 winks, or...you could invest in a dewy foundaiton and fake your way to perfection. We love Lancome's Photogenic Lumessence Light Mastering Smoothing Makeup SPF15 ($82), which not only gives you luminous skin but also keeps your skin hydrated all day. Hot Tip: Use powder to take the shine off reflective spots like your forehead, nose and chin.

3. Brow Gel: Brows are back and they're big! To make them seriously now, keep them sharper and more angular than in past seasons. Put away that subtle, nature-coloured brow powder and school yourself in filling in with a slightly too dark pencil. We love Dior's DiorShow Brow Fixing Gel ($42) for adding the perfect "extra" for glamorous eyes. This tinted gel perfectly grooms and softly colors brows, leaving them with a glossy sheen.

4. Highlighter: This season, make-up artists added shimmer and shine to more areas - think cheekbones, the inner corners of the eyes, the cupid's bow and even blended in with face base and applied all over. If you wear no makeup at all this season, at least wear this. We love Elizabeth Arden's Sheer Lights Illuminating Pen ($45) for a flawless, radiant and glowing complexion. Hot Tip: Instead of glowing cheeks, dab illuminator all around the eye socket, above the brows and around the outer eye area.

5. Dark Shadow: Makeup artists usually leave the high-drama looks for the chilly weather, but this years spring shows featured dark shadows. If black is too much for you. try the smudged-in shadow with a twist, like purple, or dark browns and antique golds. We love Dior's 5 Color Iridescent Eyeshadow - No. 809 Petal Shine ($100), which allows you to create a multitude of makeup looks from the simplest, to the most sophisticated, depending on your mood.

6. Red Lipstick: Red used to be the shade you wore to lift an outfit in the cooler months, and that's precisely why it looks so fresh and pretty come the summer months. Team with girlie prints and suddenly, red looks crisp and light. The best red this season are about making a fresh and punchy statement, not coming over all sexy vamp. We love Givenchy's Lip Lip Lip! Lipstick - #212 Shopping Red ($34) for a luminous, sensual and charming look. Hot Tip: Apply a beige lip liner all over the lips first will soften the intensity of the lip colour.

7. Blending Brush: Getting this season's dramatic eye is all in the applicaiton. Make-up artists had to fight the inner perfectionist to deliver eyes that were less than done and makeup that looked slept in. To get this wrong-look right, soften any lines with a brush or smudge it with your fingers. We love Benefit's Fluff Shadow Brush ($27). Hot Tip: Intensify your shadow by dipping the brush in water and keeping the colour close to your lashline.

8. Pastel Nail Polish: After the blackouts of past seasons, we're pleased to see a return to softer shades of nail polish. Our pick for spring is the soft, fruity frosting shades that make us think of cupcakes. We love Dior's fairy floss Addict Vernis # 340 Refelcting Pink ($35) , which is girlie and sophisticated. Hot Tip: Pastels are a statement on their own, so keep nails short and squared for a clean finish.
